Ogygian

Ogygian | as in someway relating to Ogygia, the Island mentioned in Homer's Odyssey book V belonging to the nymph Calypso.

Originating from Gozo, the artist feels a strong connection with this word and that place this name alludes to. However when used in this blog and some of the titles of the artist past works, Ogygia or Ogygian, does not necessarily refer to the particular geographical place known as Gozo, but more to the relationships that are built in this Odyssey of an art journey and the people who are encountered throughout.

Hence OGYGIAN is the passage, the vision, the documentation, the reflection, the relations and the treasure that acts like a beacon that operates mainly from the realms of art. The latter mainly refers to Collection SimonPaul as initiated by Simon MacFadyen and Joseph Calleja on 26.02.06. This collection includes original artworks, limited editions and a library of music, books and film magazines as well as documents from visited exhibitions and art spaces over the years. OGYGIAN would not have been possible with the support of so many people who directly or indirectly aided this vision that will continue to grow and touch more people.
